Introduction

During the establishment of the Bologna process, which involves the constitution of the European Higher Education Area, it has been necessary to consolidate the principles that underlie university studies throughout Europe. This has required the incorporation and use of new teaching methods adapted to the constitution of new graduate and postgraduate degrees.

The first International Congress of Higher Education in Pharmaceutical Sciences was held in Barcelona in 2000 and the second one was held at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Santiago de Compostela in 2008 to coincide with the 150th founding anniversary. Teaching methodologies and experiences on curriculum adaptation in Pharmacy Faculties were evaluated.

The third congress is to be held at the University of Granada when the Pharmacy curricula are involved in the adaptation to the European Higher Education Area. The time has arrived to open our minds to new experiences and share with other Pharmacy faculties new future strategies to develop the profession in terms of the new European environment.
